Mother’s health – noticing changes while you are in hospital – Easy Read

What this is about

results

While you are in hospital, we check your health regularly by measuring your vital signs. These include your pulse, blood pressure and temperature. We watch for changes so we can tell as quickly as possible if you are becoming ill.

What we are doing

staff training

We have recruited more staff and introduced more training about when and how we perform these checks.

digital records

We will use computers instead of paper. This will help us monitor how well we are doing.

How this helps you

treatment

By recognising changes early, we can start treatment quickly. This helps more women stay well or get better quickly.

Our progress

thumb up

We are doing the correct checks at the correct times and reacting to changes quickly.

What you can do

pregnancy concerns

Tell your midwife straight away if you feel unwell when pregnant, giving birth or after birth.

For example:

  • something feels wrong breathless
  • dizzy
  • very tired
  • fast heartbeat
