What this is about
We check your baby’s heart rate to check they are well. It can be checked all the time during labour if needed.
What we are doing
We have improved our staff training. We have also made sure that your baby’s heart rate is checked by a second person.
A doctor will check your baby if we are worried.

We make sure your baby gets extra help if it is needed. This might mean being born early.
Our progress
We routinely have second check of your baby’s heart rate in place. When a baby is born and needs extra support we look at what happened to see if there is something we could have done better.
What you can do
Call the maternity unit if your baby is moving less or different. It is important to get checked even if everything was fine last time.
