My Birth Partner(s)

You are welcome to have up to two birth partners with you during labour when you are admitted to the Birth Centre or Labour Ward. If you are admitted to the antenatal ward for induction of labour, one birth partner may stay with you throughout the process.

A birth partner might be the baby’s father, your partner, a doula, a family member or friend.

There are lots of benefits to having a birth partner. There is evidence that having a birth partner who provides continuous, one-to-one support, may help you cope better with labour and be happier with the birth experience.

There are many ways a birth partner can support you: Tips for your birth partner – NHS (www.nhs.uk)
