Occupational Therapy

The occupational therapy team at the hospital are involved before your operation. We plan and put in place anything you might need after your operation. Our aim is to safely encourage independence and promote wellbeing. We do this by providing equipment where a risk is identified to support with occupations such as washing and toileting. You can see our Occupational Therapist team by clicking here to the team page.

We also look to what is happening in the rest of the United Kingdom and beyond. As a service we are linked to a grouping of professionals performing the same work by personal membership to the organisation Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). The following is a link to this www.rcot.co.uk “Occupational therapy enables children and young people to participate in the various occupations of daily life to support their health, wellbeing and development. Occupations for children and young people include self care (such as getting dressed and using the toilet), being productive (helping in the house, making a snack, participating in activities and routines at school) and leisure (such as playing with friends or engaging in hobbies)” (Royal College of Occupational Therapists).

The occupational therapy team follow the code of conduct and practice outlined by the RCOT and are regulated by the Health and Care Professionals Council www.hcpc-uk.org
