Daily brace wear

What does the research tell us?

High quality research including children aged 10-15 years, with 20-40 degree idiopathic scoliosis shows that longer daily brace ware gives more benefit. To find out more, this study is freely available at this link – New England Journal of Medicine

We recommend taking your brace off for exercise, sport, P.E. and swimming. It is best to continue exercise during brace treatment.

There is debate about whether wearing the brace mainly at night is as good as day wear. We recommend that most patients try to wear their brace at night as well as in the day.
