Pre-Retirement Medicals

This involves a total of an hour with our doctors and nurses where measurements of general health are taken and the person is able to discuss any problems or questions they have with a medical professional. To someone preparing for retirement this can be an invaluable source of information that allows them to go confidently into retirement, with knowledge and advice on any health issues that may affect them.

The medical examination will consist of:

  • An interview with a doctor, including discussion re: lifestyle
  • A physical examination
  • Measurement of height, weight, body mass index and blood pressure
  • An electrocardiogram
  • A specimen of blood to be tested for: liver function test, cholesterol, full blood count
  • A urine test

Although this examination is fairly comprehensive it is primarily designed to highlight areas of lifestyle which the client may wish to and be able to change. (It may help to identify a significant medical problem). However it is not designed to diagnose all medical conditions. If the client has a particular concern, they will be able to discuss this with the doctor at the time.

Anything which the doctor feels requires further investigation or follow-up will be discussed with the client and they will be advised to contact their General Practitioner.
