The Revascularisation edition of the Heart Manual is designed to be initiated within the first week of a revascularisation procedure at a time when many patients feel most vulnerable. The programme is delivered by specially trained healthcare professionals, usually nurses, who complete have attended the Heart Manual’s two day facilitation course.
Evaluated in the Birmingham Rehabilitation Uptake Maximisation Study (BRUM) randomised controlled trial as part of a four-year study on home-based cardiac rehabilitation with a multi-ethnic population, the home-based programme (Heart Manual Revascularisation edition) and supervised hospital-based rehabilitation programmes equally improve outcomes at 6 months. Secondary analysis showed significant improvements for both programmes in smoking cessation.
The Revascularisation Digital Version is available and provides health boards and facilitators with a choice of either a paper or digital version of this highly praised programme facilitated with patients who have had a PCI or CABG. Please click here to see more about our digital resources.
