Facilitator Certification

The Heart Manual (HM) Department provide two certification levels for those attending HM facilitator training.

Certification is given with the expectation that all health professionals are appropriately trained and work within their own sphere of competence.

Facilitator certification (Full)

This is available only to those health professionals, who as part of their role, are regulated by a Professional Body such as NMC, HCPC etc. In order to receive a full facilitator certification, health professionals must be qualified within their own specialist discipline e.g. Registered Nurse, Dietician, OT, Physiotherapist, Pharmacist, Psychologist etc, and employed at a Band 5 level or above. Full certification allows the health care professional to:

Facilitator certification (Support)

This is available to those health professionals, who are appropriately trained to support patients through aspects of their cardiac rehabilitation (CR) programme but are not formally regulated by a professional body. This includes Exercise Physiologist, Nursing HCSW (including B4), other non-registered practitioners.

It is accepted that knowledge and understanding of CR in general may be broader than their own role and responsibilities, however certification will be issued according to role and regulatory oversight of the professionals discipline. It is the responsibility of the individual and their relevant line manager/ facilitator to ensure practice and input to HM facilitation is within each individual’s sphere of competence and certification issued by the HM Department.
