The service is able to provide regular, structured telephone calls from a fully trained and vetted WRVS volunteer. Elcap Ltd
http://www.elcap.org/
People who need support in their lives and the people who provide that support quite often need and want time apart from one another. ELCAP provides a range of services to help people enjoy positive experiences away from their regular care-givers. This is offered in a variety of ways; each designed to meet the needs of the individual and their family. Short breaks can be provided away from the family home in hotels, B &B’s, youth hostels; within the family home with support; for periods of time on a specific day and time. We try to meet the requirements of what suits people best.

RNIB Edinburgh & The Lothians Befriending Service
Befriending offers a supportive, reliable relationship to people who may otherwise be socially isolated. A volunteer befriender will meet with a client on a regular basis, generally once a fortnight. They may meet up for a chat, could help with reading mail, or perhaps go for a short walk, depending on the individual.

Stepping Out Residential Short Breaks for Carers and Former Carers
Stepping Out is an organised, structured residential break for carers. Currently the service runs from a Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. The breaks incorporate educational, theraputic, emotional and social support for carers. Although the weekend is full of organised activities, carers are welcome to feel free and use the time away as they want to. This begins on the Friday evening with a meal together, followed by a range of therapy sessions which carers sign up for to receive an individual treatment. Saturday morning is workshop based and may vary, but usually incorporates some physical activity, such as Tai Chi and emotional support, such as confidence building, relaxation and stress management. Saturday afternoon has an organised mini-bus trip to a local place of interest, and often an organised physical activity such as canoeing, walking etc

A benefit and tax credit check, and access to the lowest-cost energy rates. Many people miss out on money they are entitled to from benefits and tax credits – just because they don’t know it’s there. We can help find out if this applies to you. Some people discover they can get as much as £1,500 extra per year. Energy suppliers also offer some people discounted energy rates. We can advise about any discounts that may be available to help you pay less for the energy you use.
