Cervical Screening

When Should I Go to a Doctor?

A guide to health problems that should cause you to contact your doctor.

When to See Your GP

Out of the Ordinary

Speak to your General Practice if you have any of the following:

  • Vaginal bleeding after sex, between periods or after the menopause.
  • Unexplained pain in lower back or between your hip bones.
  • Pain or discomfort during sex.
  • Unusual discharge.

Speak to Your GP

You should speak to your GP about these problems (listed above), even if you have had your cervical screening (smear test).

These are usually caused by something other than cancer but it’s important to have them checked.
