What is Breast Screening?
Breast Screening
Breast screening is a test for breast cancers that are too small to see or feel. Breast screening can detect cancer early and reduce the number of women who die from it.
Who Should Be Screened?
Aged 50-70 Years Old
Women in Scotland aged 50-70 years old are offered breast screening.
How Often?
Breast screening is offered every 3 years.
Aged Over 71
Self-referral for breast screening
Certain people can self-refer for breast screening. If you’re aged over 71 you can now self-refer for a breast screening appointment.
To self-refer, contact your local breast screening centre.
