Lothian Gynaecology Services
Each year, NHS Lothian’s Gynaecology Services provide specialist inpatient, outpatient, urgent assessment, and surgical care for thousands of people accessing gynaecological support.

Oncology service
An accredited centre specialising in cancers of the cervix, ovary, womb, vagina and vulva, offering robotic, laparoscopic and complex surgical treatments.

Pregnancy Support Centre
We are an emergency, nurse/midwife led service for those experiencing pain and/or vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy.

Ward 210
Ward 210 is a 20 bedded ward that caters for patients requiring general inpatient gynaecology care as well as more specialist post oncology surgical care.

St John’s Outpatient Department
Outpatient gynaecology services offering consultations, assessment and ongoing care for women with a range of conditions.

Ward 12
Ward 12 is a 6 bedded ward that delivers inpatient care for women with a range of gynaecological conditions.

Royal Infirmary Outpatient Department
Reproductive Health Outpatient Department provides specialist clinics, assessments and ongoing care.

Urodynamics service
Our service performs specialist tests to measure bladder pressure, flow, capacity, and pelvic floor function to help diagnose urinary symptoms.

Endometriosis service
We diagnose and manage endometriosis, assessing pelvic pain, heavy or painful periods, and symptoms affecting fertility or daily life.

Early Pregnancy Unit
Specialist, nurse-led early pregnancy care providing prompt, compassionate support during first trimester.

Colposcopy service
Colposcopy examines the cervix in gynaecology outpatients for people with abnormal smear results or symptoms needing further assessment.

Ambulatory Care Suite
Specialist outpatient care for women including assessment, diagnosis and treatment for gynaecological conditions.

Hysteroscopy service
Hysteroscopy examines the inside of the womb to investigate symptoms such as heavy bleeding, irregular periods, polyps, or other uterine concerns.
