Welcome to the Gynaecology Inpatient Service at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Our inpatient wards provide care for patients who need to stay in hospital for planned procedures, surgery, or urgent gynaecological treatment.

What We Do
The Gynaecology Inpatient Service cares for patients who require observation, treatment, or surgery that cannot be safely provided on an outpatient basis.
This includes:
- Planned gynaecological surgery
- Emergency admissions for acute gynaecological conditions
- Post-operative recovery and monitoring
- Specialist nursing and medical care during your hospital stay
Our multidisciplinary team works closely together to manage your care, pain control, and recovery, and to support discharge planning. We aim to help you recover safely and return home as soon as possible .
