Welcome to The Ambulatory Care Suite at St John’s Hospital, Livingston , based within Ward 12 Gynaecology department. Our department focuses on specific outpatient Gynaecological procedures and Gynaecology needs. The area is patient focussed where we aim to create a positive patient experience.
What We Do
The Ambulatory Care Suite provides Gynaecology procedures to patients in a purpose built outpatient setting which specialises in all aspects of Gynaecology. We provide assessment, investigation and treatments to a range of Gynaecology issue. Patients are given the opportunity to rest post procedure if this is the patient’s wish or if indicated by nursing staff. Appointments take place on allocated appointment days/times set by NHS Lothian’s appointments office
Our aim is to deliver specific Gynaecological care in a safe, calm and efficient environment with highly trained staff ensuring all patient needs are met along with all clinical demands.
Referral Process
Referrals are triaged from GPs practices from across NHS Lothian according to NHS Lothian policies. We also accept referrals from our Lothian Early Pregnancy Department for support specific pregnancy related procedures relating to miscarriage. Furthermore we also accept referrals from our Lothian Urogynaecology team for specific diagnostic and treatment plans although this is not done direct through site but managed generically though Lothian Urogynaecology team. Appointments are then created through allocated appointments teams. Ambulatory Care has no direct input with the allocation of appointments.

The Ambulatory Care Suite can be contacted via St John’s switchboard by asking for Ward 12 where our ward clerk manages all calls to the department. All out of hours queries will be managed by Ward 12 staff.
