Care for carers is another service that provides support, through group meetings, learning opportunities and stress management services.

The Patient Advice and Support Service (PASS) in the Edinburgh Citizens advice bureau can give free accessible and confidential information, advice and support to patients, carers ad families about NHS healthcare. They also provide links to those living outside of the Edinburgh area. To find out more about the advice offered, visit their website:

Lanfine carer support office: A Carer Support Officer is now based within the Lanfine Service in the Astley Ainslie Hospital and their role is to offer support to unpaid carers of people with progressive neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington’s Disease, Multiple System Atrophy and Parkinson’s Disease.   The type of support may include helping carers to access respite or breaks from care, or services that will help their physical, emotional and financial wellbeing.
