Cognitive Changes

Graphic displaying the words: Cognition equals thinking abilities. Momory. Attention. Problem solving. language. Information Processing

You may have been referred to the Neuropsychology Service because you or someone else has noticed changes to your thinking abilities.

We will ask you about the changes you have noticed and the impact that these are having on your life. We might also ask someone close to you for their opinion, if you are happy for us to do so.

During Assessment

We will likely then do some pencil and paper tasks with you which look at different types of abilities. Sometimes we will do this in one session and sometimes we will spread these tasks across several sessions.

After the Assessment

Cognitive assessments can help us to identify areas of strength and difficulty. We can then use this information to develop strategies which aim to reduce the impact that any difficulties may have on your daily life.

We will arrange a time to meet with you to discuss the results of the assessments and to give you a chance to ask questions.

For more information and resources on Cognitive Strategies explore the Managing the impact of my neurological condition section of this webpage.
