The South East Scotland Genetic Service is one of 4 Regional Genetic Services overseen by National Services Division. We offer a range of services to the local population and the wider community within Scotland. The South East Scotland Clinical Genetic team work in close collaboration with the South East Scotland Genetic Laboratories.
The Clinical Genetic Service provide services to individuals and families including:
- Genetic Counselling, risk assessment and diagnostic services for a wide range of genetic disorders.
- Ongoing support for patients with cardiac, neuromuscular and other genetic conditions

The Genetic Laboratory Services offer a wide range of genetic testing including including:
- DNA extraction and storage from a range of specimens
- Variant detection using DNA analysis for inherited genetic conditions
- Microarray genomic hybridisation (whole genome testing) for copy number variants
- Testing for Haematological malignancies
- Rapid aneuploidy testing for the common trisomies (prenatal and postnatal)
- Conventional karyotyping (chromosome analysis)
- Fluorescent in-situ hybridisation (FISH)
