Douglas McCabe

CF Pharmacist

Douglas McCabe sees patients at clinic and on the ward. He gives advice on drugs used in CF and their effects. Together with the CF nurses, he is responsible for training patients to prepare and give intravenous (IV) antibiotics at home. He also communicates with the community pharmacists for out-patient supplies of medicine.

Douglas has been part of the CF team since 2008. In this time there have been some exciting treatments launched to treat CF, including Kaftrio, Symkevi, Orkambi, Ivacaftor and new inhaled treatments which help control infection in the lungs. Douglas is involved with reviewing treatment for each patient to ensure they are on the best possible medicines for their individual circumstances.
