Regular hearing aid maintenance

Hearing aid tubes should be replaced every 6-9 months

Over time tubes can become blocked with wax, become hard, brittle or kinked. This potentially impacts the sound quality and comfort of the hearing aid.

If you have rubber domes on your tubes these can also degrade and break up, leaving parts of the dome in your ear canal. This would then require a medical professional to remove this for you.

Please take note of when you need to change your tubing/domes as reminders are not sent by your local Audiology Department. Please contact us in time to arrange a servicing appointment.

Please note that hearing aid servicing appointments do not include a hearing test.

RE-TUBING EARMOULDS YOURSELF

If you would like to re-tube your own earmoulds please speak to a member of staff who can show you how to do this. There are also videos available online and on our website to show you how to re-tube your own earmoulds.

Hearing aid repairs

If after looking at the trouble shooting and tube cleaning guides you are still not able to get your hearing aid to work please contact the department to book a servicing appointment. This is a short appointment with a servicing professional who can check your hearing aids thoroughly and ensure that your tubes and domes are fitting correctly.  Please note we do not test your hearing at these appointments.
