Hearing Aid Guide

Getting used to your hearing aids

Congratulations on taking the first steps towards better hearing. Deciding to get a hearing aid is a big decision: one that can improve your quality of life.

Your hearing aid(s) prescription is based on your hearing test results (audiogram). Hearing aids will immediately enable you to hear more, but it takes time and perseverance to hear better. You will not get the full benefit of hearing aids if you do not use them regularly.

The more you wear your hearing aid(s) the more you benefit you will get

If you have given your hearing aids time but still find that “they don’t help”, or are uncomfortable, or too loud, please reach out to our Audiology department and ask for assistance.

Work with your audiologist to find a solution.

Hearing aids improve the clarity of sounds including speech. It is important to note that hearing aids do not restore normal hearing.
