Cochlear Implant

Cochlear implants can be fitted if you have a severe to profound hearing loss in both ears and are not gaining enough benefit from conventional hearing aids.

You are eligible for a cochlear implant assessment if you have hearing thresholds of 80dB or more at two or more frequencies (between 500Hz, 1000Hz, 2000Hz, 3000Hz & 4000Hz) in your better ear, and have tried conventional hearing aids where appropriate.

If you are within the referral criteria and would like an assessment for suitability, speak to our audiologists who can refer you to the Scottish specialist cochlear implant team at Crosshouse hospital, Kilmarnock.
