Distressing Memories

When we are under threat our brain does not process information and make memories in the same way. Following a frightening time in our lives, we might experience vivid and distressing memories coming up out of the blue. This is a normal human response to a traumatic event and is part of our brain trying to process what we’ve been through. This video will focus on:

  • Memory formation under threat
  • Intrusive memories
  • Memory suppression
  • Grounding into the present
  • Safe place
  • Managing nightmares
