Ear Reconstruction & Atresia Service NHS Lothian | Our Services

The Ear Reconstruction & Atresia service is the only team in Scotland dedicated to the care of children and adults with congenital or acquired problems of the outer and middle ear.

Our children’s service is based at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP) in Edinburgh, with our adult service based at St John’s Hospital in Livingston. We also provide outreach clinics in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, The Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Our service provides support, advice and treatment to patients from the whole of Scotland. We do our best to make it as easy as possible to access our service through our outreach clinics. However, all surgical treatment is carried out at either the children’s hospital in Edinburgh or if you are over 16, St John’s Hospital in Livingston .

Our service is funded by the National Services Division of NHS Scotland.

Aims of the Service

  • To provide specialist support, care and treatment to children and adults living with microtia & atresia or acquired defects of the outer ear.
