The Mental Health Assessment Service (MHAS) will discuss the situation with the specialist Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists on call.
The Inpatient Unit provides 24 hour care, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We provide inpatient assessment and treatment for young people. We link closely with community services so that young people can be discharged to continue their recovery in the community as soon as possible.
With the agreement of their Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, young people are referred to the Inpatient Consultant Psychiatrist and Multi-Disciplinary Team by a CAMHS professional. The Inpatient Unit is one of only three adolescent inpatient services in Scotland. We have spaces for 10 patients, ranging in age from 10-18 years old. We admit patients from Fife and Borders and sometimes from other parts of Scotland.
