NHS Lothian is committed to clinical academic careers for Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health Professions, Clinical Psychology, Pharmacy Professions and Healthcare Scientists (NMAHPPS).
A key element is the need to provide structured, funded opportunities to enable NHS employees to develop their knowledge and skills to progress to the next stage of a clinical academic pathway.
The Lothian Clinical Academic Pathways Partnership (LCAPP) is a collaboration between NHS Lothian and the following universities:
- Edinburgh Napier University
- Queen Margaret University
- Robert Gordon University
- Stirling University
- University of Edinburgh
- University of Strathclyde
The LCAPP aims to create opportunities across the career pathway from undergraduate programmes, early and middle clinical academic careers and to the establishment of clinical professorial posts.
LCAPP has established a number of funded opportunities
It also aims to support NHS employees apply for other externally funded clinical academic awards.
