NHS Lothian Care Home Education Facilitators (CHEFs) support Care Homes, to provide a quality learning experience for undergraduate student nurses on practice learning placement.

See below for information and contact details

Standards for Nursing Education

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) set out new standards in 2018 for pre-registration Nursing education.

These updated standards set out new roles and responsibilities for those supporting pre-registration nursing students undertaking practice learning.

Standards for Nurse Education

All registered nurses need to be aware of the standards and how they impact on their role in supporting pre – registration nursing students, whilst they undertake practice learning, in any environment, including care homes.
