Working in the emergency services carries the risk of you sustaining a psychological injury as a result of the job you do. We know that emergency service staff are a resilient and resourceful group who cope well most of the time with the traumatic incidents they face.
The support of colleagues, a sense of professionalism, team work and training all work to protect you from emotional and psychological harm. However, there may be incidents and occasions when you are more affected by what you have been involved in and the aim of the Rivers Centre is the assessment and treatment of anyone who is experiencing problems.
The Rivers Centre has worked with fire and rescue staff in the legacy East Service Division Area since 1998 and have a passion for supporting the wellbeing of responders. We are pleased that since January 2020 we have been offering Post Incident Support to SFRS staff across the whole country.
We run in person clinics in Edinburgh and Glasgow and also use the secure NHS telehealth facility, NHS Attend Anywhere, to ensure that wherever you live you will have access to the expertise and knowledge of our clinicians.
If you have any questions about how to access support please contact Heather Hillen or Gill Moreton on 0131 451 7407.
