Consultancy
In addition to clinical services, the Rivers Centre provides a range of consultancy services to public and private sector organisations.
Since 1998 we have been working closely with emergency service organisations to provide training, clinical assessment and treatment related to critical incidents.
Other external contracts include The Scottish Government and the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service.

Teaching and Training
The Rivers Centre runs training courses and conferences for a wide range of professionals involved in the management of trauma in health, social care and third sectors.
We deliver national training as part of the NHS Education for Scotland programme, and for many years now we have been involved in training and working in collaboration with emergency service personnel. More recently we have also started working with the Dart Centre Europe for Journalism and Trauma.
The Rivers Centre is a clinical training centre, where trainee psychiatrists, clinical psychology trainees, medical students, and students from allied healthcare disciplines can elect to do specialist trauma placements, under the supervision of our senior clinicians.
The Centre also has links with the UK Psychological Trauma Society (UKPTS) and has hosted the UKPTS conference in Edinburgh in 2009, 2010, and 2012. Close links are also established with the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS), and the Rivers Centre is one of the sites that provides training for the ESTSS Trauma Certificate.
