Scottish Prison Service

The Rivers Centre is working with the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) to provide Lifelines Prison Service, a national programme to promote the wellbeing and resilience of the prison community. Further information on the Lifelines project can the resources available to SPS staff are available on the Lifelines Prison website.

The Rivers Centre is currently also working with SPS to provide a pilot programme to its senior leaders with the aim of:

  • Normalising wellbeing conversations in senior leadership
  • Building trust and showing that it’s ok to seek support
  • Identifying pressure points, emotional load, or blind spots before they escalate, increasing emotional literacy and self-regulation
  • Making sense of emotionally intense experiences
  • Reflecting on the impact of leadership in systems under stress or change

This programme includes both group-based training sessions and the opportunity for individual wellbeing sessions with the Rivers Centre clinical team.

If you are a member of the SPS and would like further information on either of these projects, please contact The Rivers Centre team on 0131 451 7407 or email us at loth.externalrivers@nhs.scot.
