Information specific to the type of surgery that you are having

Much of the information that is found throughout this preparing for surgery website will apply to you regardless of the type of surgery that you are having.

Of course, there will also be aspects of your preparation for surgery, your treatment in hospital, and your recovery that are specific to the type of operation that you are having.

Your first resource for information about the particular surgery that you are having should be your surgical and anaesthetic team. You should be given the necessary information during your appointments before your surgery and given the opportunity to ask any questions that you have.

We have provided further information specific to a variety of different surgeries which you can find by clicking on the links to left. Information of this sort is not available on this website for all of the operations performed at the Royal Infirmary. We aim to add further resources in the future. However, as above, information about your surgery should be provided to you at your clinic appointment.
