The first 1001 days

Man with Child

Pregnancy and the first two years of life have the most influence on a child’s future than any other period.

Parents and families play an important role during this period of rapid growth and brain development.

Strong relationships between an infant and their parent have lifelong benefits to both physical and mental health.

Everyone has mental health, including infants. Infant mental health is the ability a child has to form close relationships, express and recognise emotions and explore the world around them during the first years of their life.

Many things you do without even thinking about on a daily basis can support this development.

This collection of videos explain more about infant mental health, early brain development, the parent-infant relationship and how you can nurture your connection with your baby every day.
