Unit Access
- Doors to SCBU are locked at all times. To gain access, please use the doorbell and a member of staff will release the door. Please be patient at busy times, we will open the door as quickly as possible. You will be asked to identify yourself; this is a safety precaution so that we are aware of who is visiting at all times.
- SCBU has lockers are available within the family rooms. NHS Lothian is not responsible for loss of valuables and personal belongings.
- Wheelchair and pram accessible. Elevator is around from the corridor leading to SCBU
Visiting
Please be aware that our visiting policy for St. Johns SCBU is currently under review and so the below reflects minimal detail until date of implementation (Expected September 2024)
- Parents have 24hr access.
- Siblings of patients have 24hr access but must be accompanied by 1 parent minimum.
- 3 persons at cot side only at any one time. 1 person of which is required to be a parent
- All parents and visitors asked to follow hand washing policy in coming into unit and to wash hands in nursery and not to wear watches or jewellery other than wedding bands.
