Care Homes NHS Lothian | Our Services

Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT)

Who are we and what do we do?

The Care Home IPCT is made up of a geographical lead Infection Prevention & Control Nurse and four Infection Prevention & Control practitioners

We come from a range of different backgrounds, including, the community and Care Homes. This helps us understand the different ways that care is delivered and the specific challenges different services can have.

We know all about infections, what causes them, how and why they spread, how to care for people with an infection and how to prevent infections from spreading.

How can we help you?

  • Our team can provide practical advice, education and support about infection prevention and control to help keep residents and staff safe.
  • We can provide a dedicated contact who can get to know and work with care home staff
  • We have lots of useful information, posters and guidance.
We’d love to hear what matters to you! Please share your thoughts on how we can support care homes using the contact details in the contact us section.
