It is estimated that 1 in 3 people over the age of 65 in the United Kingdom have diabetes. There is a growing number of residents living in Care Homes who are living with diabetes. Furthermore, diabetes is a complicated condition with many different types of diabetes and many different signs, symptoms and treatments.
The aim of the Framework is to support Care Home staff to optimise the care provided to people living with diabetes who live in Care Homes.
The Framework is a resource to support staff with recognition of the signs and symptoms of diabetes, prevent complications, and manage signs and symptoms associated with diabetes. The Framework also signposts staff to further diabetes education and resources.
