Dementia Skilled Knowledge and Practice

This face-to-face full day workshop uses a variety of facilitation of learning methods to enhance participants knowledge and practice in dementia care.

All health and social care staff are welcome


Please note: the workshop focuses on developing assessment skills to meet the needs ofpeople living with dementia in health and social care settings.

Intended Learning outcomes:

By the end of the day participants will:

  • Understand causes for distress associated with dementia and how to begin toaddress these.
  • Apply a person-centred approach to dementia care.
  • Have increased knowledge of the biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors which impact on the person with dementia wellbeing.
  • Assess the needs of the person with dementia using the biopsychosocial model.

Pre Learning Activity

We advise pre-course completion of TURAS dementia informed level dementia modules, which consists of 5 short videos
