A 6 hour group education programme to support you if you are newly diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D).
The programme includes:
- Information on T2D, the causes and impact it has on the body
- The chance to share thoughts and feelings around being diagnosed with T2D
- Practical healthy lifestyle advice in order to manage your health and help avoid complications
- Peer support and the opportunity to share experiences with others
The interactive, informal group sessions are led by our team of trained facilitators.
This programme forms part of the national DESMOND package of support, designed by the NHS and Leicester Diabetes Centre.
DESMOND groups may be accessed face to face at a site local to you, or virtually via a free online platform as 3x 2 hour or 2x 3hr sessions.
The MyDESMOND Interactive Digital Programme is now available, allowing patients to access Type 2 Diabetes education and support at a personally preferred time and pace. This free programme is a web-based platform that works like an app. More details are available on the DESMOND website, or directly from the Lothian contact details below.
Patients are invited to indicate their programme style preference within the self-referral form.
