Referral Process

  • The unit referral form should be completed fully and submitted to the team inbox.
  • Referrals are screened by the team to assess the suitability, clinical need and urgency of the referral.
  • Contact will be made with the community team to arrange date and time of admission and/or a pre-admission meeting if this is felt to be required.
  • Preferred times of admission are Mondays to Fridays between 9am – 4pm, (except in emergencies), to coincide with appropriate staff cover.
  • For planned admissions, patients and relatives are welcome to arrange a visit to the ward via their Community Eating Disorder Team. We would encourage potential patients to view the ward video on the website and read the pre- admission pack.
  • Should there be a wait for a bed; REDU staff would seek to remain updated on the progress of patient referred, to ensure appropriate priority is given.
