Family and Carer Support

If you are a relative, carer, partner, or friend of someone living with an eating disorder you can read more about ways you can support your loved one.

There are also a number of organisations that can offer various forms of support for relatives, carers, partners or friends of someone living with an eating disorder, from advice to online and local support groups and forums, including:

There are also many websites dedicated to supporting carers where you can find out more about your rights and entitlements as a carer. There is however a lot of information available on the internet, and it can at times be overwhelming. The Carers Trust – Scotland website may be a good place to start.

As a carer you are entitled to a free carer’s assessment of your own needs. To get a carer’s assessment you will need to contact your local authority. There will also be carer’s organisations local to you. Please see the resources linked below for local information:
