We provide imaging services at many sites across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Some acute hospitals sites will provide specialist services or interventions, and so your scan may be in a different hospital from the one you initially see the person requesting your scan (typically a doctor, specialist nurse or physiotherapist).
If this scan has been organised by your GP, you may need to arrange the appointment yourself; more details are available on the arranging imaging requested by your GP page.

External sites
The University of Edinburgh has two MRI systems, which as well as research also provide imaging for NHS patients. These are both based on the Edinburgh BioQuarter site in Little France (Edinburgh Imaging – QMRI, Edinburgh Imaging – RIE).

On occasion, some outpatient imaging may also be performed at external sites including The Edinburgh Clinic, Spire Murrayfield and Spire Shawfair Park. This will be explained in your appointment letter.
