Primary Care Facilitation Team NHS Lothian | Our Services

Drugs, Alcohol and Blood Borne Viruses

PCFT – What we do

The team is non-patient facing with a clinical governance and training role supporting healthcare staff in primary care and the community.

The team promotes good practice in providing care for drug dependent patients and those affected by blood borne viruses in primary care. It supports the delivery of alcohol brief interventions and the management of alcohol related problems in the GP setting.

We achieve this through

  • Supporting the Lothian enhanced services for drug dependence, hepatitis C, and alcohol brief interventions.
  • Developing, publishing and disseminating good practice guidance.
  • Training, education and workforce development.
  • Policy development, service improvement and strategic planning.
  • Audit and evaluation.
