Parkinson’s and Movement Disorder Services NHS Lothian | Our Services

Welcome to the NHS Lothian Parkinson’s and Movement Disorder Service.

The Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Service provides specialist care and support for people in Edinburgh and the Lothians who live with Parkinson’s disease and other related movement disorders.

Our team work together to provide multi-disciplinary and holistic support to patients and their carers. It is comprised of:

  • Parkinson’s Nurse Specialists
  • Doctors
  • Physiotherapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Speech and language therapists

We also have strong links with psychiatric and mental health services, social services, dieticians and psychologists.

For current patients, the Parkinson’s Disease Nurse Specialists can be contacted on 0131 465 9156

This website provides information for those attending our clinics. It also has links to some background information on Parkinson’s disease and related disorders, and other sites that may be of interest for those living with such conditions.

Not everybody referred to our movement disorder clinics has Parkinson’s disease. The clinic has specialists in movement problems, like a shake or tremor, and it is where GPs refer patients for a specialist opinion. In many cases patients do not need to be followed up in the long term.
