PD Frontline: genetic testing provision to facilitate clinical trial referral for people with Parkinson’s

PD Frontline is a remote study that offers online genetic testing for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, allowing them to be referred to relevant clinical trials and research studies if they wish. Approximately 20% of Parkinson’s cases are linked to genetic variations. By studying genes, researchers aim to develop targeted treatments that address specific biochemical pathways. To test these treatments, study teams need to identify individuals with these genetic variations who can participate in suitable clinical trials.

This study will enable referral into a new clinical trial, titled ‘Ambroxol to Slow Progression in Parkinson’s’ (ASPro-PD). This large-scale phase 3 trial aims to determine whether ambroxol can slow or halt the progression of Parkinson’s disease and is set to commence shortly. Information on ASPro-PD can be found here.
