PD Frontline: genetic testing provision to facilitate clinical trial referral for people with Parkinson’s
PD Frontline is a remote study that offers online genetic testing for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, allowing them to be referred to relevant clinical trials and research studies if they wish.
About one in five Parkinson’s cases (around 20%) is linked to particular gene changes. By studying these genes, researchers hope to create treatments aimed at the exact biochemical processes involved. To test these targeted therapies, study teams need to find and recruit people whose genetic profiles match the treatment’s focus.
This study will allow people to be referred into a new clinical trial called “Ambroxol to Slow Progression in Parkinson’s” (ASPro-PD). ASPro-PD is a large phase 3 trial that will test whether the drug ambroxol can slow down or stop the progression of Parkinson’s disease. The trial is due to start soon. Information on ASPro-PD can be found here.
This study is open to recruitment
