Deep & Frequent Phenotyping Study (DFP)

Alzheimer’s Disease Research

The Deep & Frequent Phenotyping study (DFP) seeks to address the challenge of detecting Alzheimer’s disease before symptoms emerge by creating a comprehensive database of various measures from individuals at risk. This includes regular brain scans, cognitive and memory tests, retinal imaging, blood tests, and wearable technology assessments. Recruiting participants over 60 across sites in the UK, and is led by the University of Oxford. Our site is based in Edinburgh. By combining established and novel markers, DFP aims to identify the best indicators for early Alzheimer’s detection, ultimately enhancing the design and efficiency of future clinical trials. The study is supported by the MRC and NIHR, with findings accessible through the Dementias Platform UK Data Portal.
