A single point of contact telephone number has been established to allow Trauma Units an easy pathway to refer patients directly to the Paediatric Major Trauma Centre (automatic acceptance).
A protocol has been developed to illustrate the referral pathways for patients with single-system and multi-system injuries. It is expected that launch of the new referral pathway will improve communication and help ensure that teams are well-prepared to receive patients.
