Specialist Learning Disability Services

Specialist Positive Behaviour Service

Provides assessment, treatment and intensive support for adults with a learning disability whose behaviour is severely impacting on their quality of life.

Lothian Forensic Learning Disability Service

Provides short-term assessment, support & treatment for people who have a mild to moderate Learning Disability, with additional mental health problems, or psychological difficulties which incur the involvement of the Criminal Justice System.

Mental Heath Intensive Support Service

The service works with adults with learning disabilities and mental health difficulties:-

  • to prevent admission to hospital due to mental health issues
  • Facilitate admission to LD beds/General Adult Psychiatry (GAP)
  • Support throughout admission
  • Plan, facilitate & support early discharge from hospital.
  • Short term post discharge support in conjunction with CLDT.

Specialist Learning Disability Epilepsy Service

Provides an epilepsy diagnostic service for adults with learning disabilities including epilepsy management and follow up.

Inpatient Service

Provides assessment and treatment for adults with learning disabilities based at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital Campus. The service also has health care houses which provide rehabilitation and transitional care across Lothian.
