Chronic pain is largely managed in the community by the individuals, and with support from their GP.
However, due to its often complex nature, some patients require a multi-disciplinary approach, which includes specialist input from; doctors, nurses, psychologists and physiotherapists.

Our essential core purpose is to help individuals manage their own pain by
- Reducing their pain as much as is possible
- Helping people to learn to live with their pain and improve their quality of life as much as possible
Our promise to patients
- An efficient assessment of your pain (multidisciplinary where necessary)
- We will listen to problems and undertake to produce an individual management plan
- Management will be based on treatment of the ‘whole patient’, focussing not only on the pain but the impact of the pain on the whole life experience.
In return we expect
- Patients will attempt to follow the management plan as agreed and which may change over time.
- Consistent attendance at ALL appointments.
Failure to attend one part of the service will result in discharge from the whole service. Patients will be able to opt out of bits of the service that are not for them as long as this is communicated in advance.
