Where We Work

As CYP OTs, we work across a range of settings:

In Schools and Educational Settings:

  • OTs support children with learning, sensory, and physical challenges that affect their ability to engage in school activities, such as handwriting, using school materials, and participating in the classroom. They may work directly with students or collaborate with teachers to modify the learning environment.

In Community Health Centres:

  • What they do: Community-based OTs work with children and families in a more accessible setting, providing ongoing therapy for developmental, physical, or sensory challenges. They offer practical advice and interventions that can be applied at home or in everyday life.

At the child’s home:

  • What they do: OTs may visit children in their homes to assess their living environment and recommend changes that can help them become more independent. This could involve assisting with self-care tasks like dressing and eating or suggesting equipment to make life easier.
