The Care Fund is a specially commissioned funding stream provided by NHS England for the care of patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). Managed by the National CJD Nursing Team, we are responsible for assessing and awarding funding to support individuals living with, and dying from, CJD.
Although this is NHS funding, it is ring-fenced specifically for CJD patients. The Care Fund enables us to provide urgent access to care and essential provisions, such as mobility aids and safety equipment, to help improve your quality of life.
Wherever possible, we will explore standard NHS referral pathways in the first instance. However, when these processes involve lengthy wait times or delays, the Care Fund may be used to offer timely support.
Your appointed CJD Nurse Specialist will continuously assess your eligibility and manage all relevant timeframes to ensure there are no unnecessary delays in accessing the provisions you need.

We accept referrals from both health and care professionals as well as patients and their relatives.
