Welcome to the Leadership Pathway
We’ve heard from lots of staff across Lothian that finding resources and learning to improve leadership skills can be difficult.
We know there is lots out there, but sometimes this can be difficult to access or it can be unclear to figure out where you should start.
In partnership with key stakeholders, we’ve worked to develop this leadership pathway to help.
This is a resource to help you develop your leadership skills in the workplace.

You will see there are 4 main sections which will guide you through the pathway.
There is no set pathway, we’ve split up the learning into four key sections, to enable you to dip in and out of as you develop.
These sections are colour coded to help you navigate your way around the learning resource.
We know that sometimes it can be hard to find the time to learn, so this resource is available 24/7 for whenever you have the time.
What will I get out of it?
Leadership is something you develop and learn over time. This is an opportunity to practice and develop those skills.
This learning resource collates a variety of materials from a variety of sources to build the leadership pathway.
Some of the modules we’ve included are from the SSSC open badges so the evidence and reflections you complete will count towards these if you choose.
Other modules that we sign post you to are available on TURAS: anyone working in Health and Social care can have a TURAS account. If you haven’t already registered you can by going to the TURAS registration page. We provide a step by step guide to TURAS registration if you require help.
If you keep a record of any learning time you spend exploring and completing parts of this pathway you may use it as evidence for your continual professional learning (CPL) requirements.
There is no requirement to complete all of this, rather use the resources as you you need in your own development.
You aren’t required to submit evidence (but remember to use it for any awards or CPL you are undertaking)
However, we would like to hear from you if you’re enjoying this resource at Loth.CareAcademy@nhs.net or if you have any other suggestions that may help you in developing your leadership skills.
In addition if you are an aspiring senior social care worker, you might also be interested in attending our Recognising the Leader in you training. More information can be found on the Recognising the Leader in you Webpage
