Secure Email Accounts
Where secure email addresses exist these can be used for direct communication between the care home and NHS services for resident and staff related information.
This includes submission of referral forms for different specialist services and communication with the Health Protection and Public Health Teams.

Edinburgh Care Home Support Team
Role and Remit
The Edinburgh Care Home Support Team work in partnership with the District Nursing service. The team provide clinical nursing care within the Care Homes with no registered nurses. The team are also available to support staff across all Care Homes with clinical care advice, signposting and education.
The vision for the team is to play a key liaison role going forward and use these established new relationships to support Care Homes and their residents.
It’s worth noting that the Team is continuing to drive, develop and evolve into its own identity and it is achieving this through networking and by building new relationships with other community services.
Current overall aims of the service:
- Support and education for the 61 (older peoples) Care Homes within the Edinburgh partnership.
- To provide high quality, safe, effective, timely clinical nursing care to Care Home residents, working closely in partnership with the Care Home and the District Nursing service.
- To build meaningful working relations between Care Homes and the service.
- To promote greater awareness of the community support based services available.
- To support timely and safe admission and discharge by providing an effective interface between acute hospital services and all community teams.
- To work in partnership with social care services (Residential Review Team) and voluntary services.
- Provide an effective interface between education services and Care Homes.
